Dr. Kimberly S. Adams currently serves as Visiting Assistant Professor of Political Science at Roger Williams University in Bristol, Rhode Island. She received her B.S. and M.S. degrees in political science at the University of Southern Mississippi and her Ph.D. in political science at the University of Mississippi. Dr. Adams's main areas of research and teaching include women
and politics in America and internationally, and race and ethnicity in American Politics. She has presented academic papers on race and politics at the state,
national and international levels. The research for this article was conducted during her tenure as a graduate student at the University of Mississippi in 2001 under the direction and guidance of Dr. Pierre Landry, now an Assistant Professor of Political Science at Yale Univeristy.
