Diane Newby serves as the National Charter Schools Performance and Development Institute resident scholar. She is professor of Teacher Education and Professional Development at Central Michigan University. Dr Newby teaches elementary and middle level social studies methods and educational technology. She has served as an elementary school teacher for grades 4 through 8, and as an elementary school principal for Waverly (Lansing) and Mt. Pleasant School Districts.
Originally from Togo on the West Coast of Africa. Earned a BA in Applied linguistics in 1982 at Benin University, an MA/TESOL at Leicester University( England) an MSC/EMA at Heirot Watt University (Scotland) and a Ed.D. in Curriculum instruction and supervision at Oklahoma State University. Has taught English as a foreign and second language in Togo, assumed supervisory roles as Inspector of National Education in Togo. Is currently assistant Professor at Central Michigan University.
