The University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, USA, has been engaged in a unique partnership with Yeungjin College of Daegu, South Korea, in creating an English Village in Korea. The Village is run entirely by Yeungjin College and its purpose is to provide high quality English instruction in an immersion format, using an American curriculum and American TESOL instructors. The Daegu English Village project is very successful, and has proven to be a challenging exploration of culture, as we continually learn about ourselves and our international partners. This project has provided invaluable insights into global ESL education, and is an example of how two completely different cultures can work together to turn the possibility of international partnerships in higher education a reality.
